Under 7s

 U7s @ Crewkerne 22nd November

Tor U7’s

We started with the ball and it was quickly run in the corner by Josh, proving himself a worthy captain of the side. Crewkerne also got a quick try through Tor’s defence, splitting the team down the middle. Tor then  had a good spell of play with Marley, Aiden and Roo all bagging themselves try’s.

Tavian’s work from the restart meant that Tor soon got another, although not before Crewkerne had levelled the scores with some great running of their own.
Ronin came of the bench and passed to Marley which led to the longest try of the game with him running all the way back and then forward over the try line!  The score was unimportant on this occasion as all players had great fun!

U7S @ Bridgwater 15th November

Tor U7’s

Tor under 7’s had a great visit to Bridgwater, we had enough to field 2 teams with substitutes.  Bridgwater gave us the ball to start off with and we quickly turned it into a spell of possession although no try until after Bridgwater had turned us over and scored one of their own! Through some superb running down the line Josh soon added another try, this led to his eventual player of the week award after more play and accurate passing.  With the other game underway on a different pitch, there was great play by Mason, Bertie and Daniel.  As always, there wasn’t an eye kept on the overall score with the emphasis on having fun!

U7S @ Wells 25th OCT 2015

We started with 11 players so had rotating subs for the match with 4 on the pitch at a time.  Wells as hosts, allowed us to start the game and Tor attacked right from the beginning with great running down the line with a try scored by Marcus with the assist from Marley, almost from the start!  The game ebbed and flowed with Wells getting the better of Tor for a short time and scoring two tries in quick succession, Tor hit back and with the addition of fresh legs provided by Roo and Aiden managed to get a couple back.  Josh and Tavian came on and made an impact with tries scored by both sides.  It was a good game finished off with handshakes all round led by Aiden.

U7S 11TH OCT 2015 Tor Vs Cheddar @ Tor

U7’S match report

Tor had a good opening game of the season against Cheddar. Tor had enough players to field 3 teams and decided to play all three, rotating between playing ourselves and the strong team that Cheddar put out.  In the first game there was good opening play with Cheddar scoring first, Tor hit back with some great running down the wing to score in the corner.  All too soon, it was time to swap teams and into the second game, again Cheddar scored first, it took a little while to overcome first game nerves but Tor were soon in the game.  The final game was played in front of an increasing audience as other age groups finished and came to watch, the last team reacted and played like demons!  It was a good introduction to playing for the majority and an enjoyable morning for all.

U7s 12/04/2015-

The Tor U7s were in action today against Chard and Crewkerne in a busy but very successful 3-way tournament hosted by Chard RFC.
Luckily the epic weather continued to inspire out budding players, who rose to the occasion of their last match of the season.  They came out hungry to play their best rugby, which they did fantastically.
Split into two teams, one was ably led by Charlie Taylor and Raffael, while the other captaincy rotated through Josh, Hollie and Samuel who all took to the role admirably.  Displaying positive leadership, the captains rallied their teams to demonstrate that they had all learned the lessons from their coaches from throughout the season. Their set play in the restarts, both when attacking or defending was disciplined and impressive.  Their defensive line showed great tackling from all the players, especially Robbie, Raffael, Finlay, Josh, Ben, little Charlie, Freddy and Hollie, preventing the opposition from gaining any advantage and resulting in many turn over balls through sheer pressure and forcing the opposing teams to run out of play.
Some great running and try scoring came from Charlie Taylor, little Charlie, Freddy and Hollie, although many of the players showed flare in finding the gaps in the opposition’s defence.  Some of the most impressive teamwork was exemplified by Samuel, Cade, Chloe and Marley who were always ready to pass the ball, sometimes even before they were tagged which kept the attacking pressure on the opposition.  The players came off the field tired but with big smiles all round.
This week little Charlie came away with the coveted Silver Boot for his teamwork, tackling and good listening to the referees.
Overall, the season has ended on a high with a great group of rugby players who are ready to move on to the challenges of U8 rugby.
